Our research centers on the design of heterogeneous catalysts and reactor concepts devoted to sustainable technologies. The latter secure the efficient utilization of natural resources while minimizing environmental impact by reducing energy consumption and waste.
We establish structure-function relationships at relevant length and time scales ranging over ten orders of magnitude (play movie below), combining precision materials synthesis with advanced characterization and catalytic evaluation under realistic process conditions.
We study challenging reactions with a direct technological impact on society towards a carbon-neutral chemical industry. Our targets include efficient small-molecule activation as renewable feedstocks, waste-free manufacture of specialty chemicals, and plastics recycling.
